Cédric Pescia
Born in Lausanne, of Swiss and French nationality, Cédric Pescia began his musical studies at the age of seven. He first studied at the Lausanne Conservatory in the class of Christian Favre (First Prize for Virtuosity with distinction from the jury in 1993), then with Dominique Merlet at the Geneva Conservatory (First Prize for Virtuosity with distinction in 1997). He completed his studies at the Universität der Künste in Berlin in the class of Klaus Hellwig.
At the same time, he perfected his skills with Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Henri Barda, Daniel Barenboim, Irwin Gage, Ivan Klansky, Christian Zacharias, Ilan Gronich and the Alban Berg Quartet. He collaborates as an accompanist in several Lied interpretation courses given by Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau.
From 2003 to 2006, he was invited to the “International Piano Academy, Lake Como”, where he studied with Dimitri Bashkirov, Leon Fleisher, Andreas Staier, William G. Naboré and Fou T’song in particular.
Cédric Pescia won the First Prize (Gold Medalist) of the Gina Bachauer International Artists Piano Competition 2002 in Salt Lake City, USA.
Cédric Pescia gives numerous concerts and recitals in Europe, the United States, China, South America, he plays in the Great Hall of the Berlin Philharmonic, at the Konzerthaus in Berlin, at the Laieszhalle in Hamburg, at the Wigmore Hall in London, at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, at the Carnegie Hall in New York, at the Shanghai Oriental Arts Center, at the Tonhalle in Zurich and is invited by prestigious international festivals, among others: Prague Spring, Lucerne Festival, Menuhin Festival Gstaad, Schleswig -Holstein Musik Festival, Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad, Schubertiade Hohenems and Radio France and Montpellier Festival. Alongside his activities as a soloist, his love of chamber music leads him to play regularly with renowned partners.A long-standing collaboration links Cédric Pescia to violinist Nurit Stark. Founding member of the Lausanne series of chamber music concerts Ensemble enScène; Since 2006, he has been its artistic director. He gives master classes in the United States and Europe. In 2012, he was appointed piano professor at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Genève. He is president of the artistic commission of the Geneva International Music Competition. In 2007, Cédric Pescia was honored with the Music Prize from the Vaudoise Foundation for Culture. He is also a recipient of the Leenaards Foundation Scholarship in Lausanne. Couperin, Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Debussy, Busoni, Enescu, Messiaen, Cage, Suslin, Gubaidulina, CDs which have collected the best reviews.
