Montse Roig I Losantos

Montse Roig, born in Barcelona (Catalonia), has dedicated her professional life to the Maria Canals International Music Competition in Barcelona for more than thirty years, during which she has followed thousands of young pianists during their time at Palau de la Musica Catalana, preparing their international musical career.

The Competition Association was founded by pianist and teacher Maria Canals in 1954. After more than 65 editions, the Competition has established itself as the dean of musical competitions in Spain, with the regular participation of young pianists from over 30 countries.

Since 2019, Montse combines the work for the Competition with the activities of the association “AprOpera” which she founded with tenor Marc Sala and soprano Sara Bañeras, to bring knowledge and love for opera to new generations.
