Introduction
The team of the “Genève Musicale” Association, made up of professional musicians and passionate music lovers, is pleased to present a project in the public interest, spread over two consecutive years, dedicated to young musicians: the International Competition for young people under 18 years, followed by the International Music Festival. The first edition of the Competition will be devoted to the piano.
The two entities are closely linked by their innovative theme, such as the promotion of works by Swiss composers (piece imposed on the Competition, Swiss musical personality invited to the Festival…) and the introduction of the musical identities of participants from abroad, through their interpretations of works representing their country of origin. In short, an artistic exchange allowing everyone to be the musical and cultural ambassador of their heritage.
The International Competition offers all motivated young musicians the opportunity to test their achievements and become aware of the real conditions of the profession – conditioning on a stage facing the public – an essential element in the construction of a rich and complete musician. All the young musicians who take up this challenge deserve the full support of the Association: many prizes and distinctions will be awarded, without being limited to the finalists, so that the participants feel encouraged and supported in their quest for excellence.
The Festival takes place over the following year and represents a platform for musical exchange (concerts, master-classes, workshops, conferences) between the invited Maestros and the participants wishing to enrich and strengthen their musical knowledge, revealed through participation in the Competition. Financial support is provided for Swiss participants and for the winners of the Competition.
The mission of this project in the broad sense is to attract diverse audiences, initiated or not to music, a universal language accessible to all.
