Rena Shereshevskaya
Rena Shereshevskaya is an internationally renowned pianist and pedagogue, widely recognized for her major influence in piano education. A Chevalier of the French Order of Arts and Letters, laureate of the Ippolitov-Ivanov International Prize for Music Pedagogy in Russia, and Honorary Professor of the Ippolitov-Ivanov State Musical and Pedagogical Institute in Moscow, she stands as a leading figure in the transmission of artistic excellence today.
A graduate of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory and holder of a doctorate in teaching and performance, she devoted the early years of her career to training young talents in Russia. For twelve years, she taught at the Central Special Music School for Gifted Children affiliated with the Tchaikovsky Conservatory, before heading the piano department of the Ippolitov-Ivanov Institute in Moscow.
Invited to France in 1993 to establish a programme for gifted children at the Conservatoire National de Colmar, she settled there permanently and continued an intense pedagogical activity. She has notably taught at the École Normale de Musique de Paris Alfred Cortot, following collaborations with the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris and the Conservatoire de Rueil-Malmaison. In great demand, she regularly gives masterclasses worldwide and serves on the juries of major international piano competitions. She is also the author of numerous articles devoted to music pedagogy.
Rena Shereshevskaya has trained many prizewinners of the most prestigious international competitions, including laureates of the International Tchaikovsky Competition, the Queen Elisabeth Competition, the Géza Anda Competition, and the Santander International Piano Competition. Her students perform in the world’s leading concert halls.
Alongside her pedagogical work, she pursues a career as a chamber musician and performs in duo with her daughter, the mezzo-soprano Victoria Shereshevskaya. She is also the founder and artistic director of the festival Les Dynasties et les Familles Artistiques.
