Prisca Benoit
French pianist Prisca Benoit discovered the piano at the age of three. Her exceptional talent was recognised early on and supported by the great cellist Pierre Fournier. She entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris in the class of Jacques Rouvier, with whom she later served as assistant.
Her studies were crowned with numerous prizes at international competitions in Athens, Dublin, and Milan. She continued her training in the United States with György Sebők in Bloomington, where she was a laureate of the Alliance Française Foundation.
Prisca Benoit performs both as a soloist and chamber musician on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including the Salle Pleyel, the Théâtre du Châtelet, and the Lincoln Center. She has appeared with leading orchestras such as the Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine, the New Japan Philharmonic, and the Virginia Symphony Orchestra. A regular guest at major international festivals—including the MIDEM, Prades, Yokohama, and Santa Fe—she is widely acclaimed for her virtuosity and passionate interpretations.
In chamber music, she performs in piano duo with Aldo Ciccolini, Jacques Rouvier, and Mladen Tcholitch. She has also recorded with distinguished artists such as Philippe Muller, Roland Pidoux, and Roland Daugareil. Her discography includes sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti, a recital devoted to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, chamber works by Johannes Brahms, a recording of dances with Jacques Rouvier, and most recently, a CD dedicated to Mozart’s concertos for two pianos with Mladen Tcholitch.
In 2014, she made her U.S. debut with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, leading to several concert seasons and a recording devoted to concertos by Robert Schumann and Frédéric Chopin. A passionate pedagogue, she taught at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris from 1991 to 2020 and gives masterclasses worldwide, including at the Mozarteum University Salzburg, as well as in Taiwan, the United States, Spain, France, and Italy.
She is regularly invited to serve on the juries of international competitions, further consolidating her reputation as a complete artist deeply committed to the transmission of her knowledge.
