Alan Kwiek
Argentinian pianist Alan Kwiek began studying the piano at the age of nine. He trained with distinguished pedagogues including Lidia E. Santos, María Fernanda Bruno, Pía Sebastiani, and Elizabeth Westerkamp. From an early stage, he appeared both as a soloist and chamber musician in some of Argentina’s most emblematic venues—among them the Teatro Colón, the Teatro San Martín, and the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes—as well as internationally. Alongside his performing career, he has developed a strong commitment to teaching, holding positions in several institutions in Argentina and Spain, notably in Bilbao.
Between 2000 and 2010, he formed a piano duo with Patricia Bernárdez. Together, they explored a repertoire ranging from Johann Sebastian Bach to Astor Piazzolla, performing extensively throughout Latin America. In 2002, he collaborated with the Orquestra Sinfônica de João Pessoa (Brazil), preparing the choir for a performance of Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 3. In 2008, he took part in the prestigious Italian festival Pietrasanta in Concerto, sharing the stage with Martha Argerich.
Since 2008, he has performed in duo with the violinist Cecilia Isas. Their critically acclaimed collaboration led them to perform the complete ten violin and piano sonatas by Ludwig van Beethoven in a single day at the Centro Cultural Kirchner (2017), a remarkable achievement. They have received several awards and dedicate a significant part of their repertoire to works by women composers and Argentine music. Their debut album, released by Virtuoso Records, was warmly received, notably by Revue des Deux Mondes (France). In 2022, Argentina’s National Radio awarded them the “Consécration” Prize.
In 2023, Alan Kwiek performed works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Entre Ríos under the baton of Luis Gorelik, before embarking on a tour with the Tempo Quartet. He also performed the trio by Gian Carlo Menotti alongside Mariano Rey and Cecilia Isas. In August of the same year, he joined Martha Argerich at the Teatro Colón for Les Noces by Igor Stravinsky, conducted by Charles Dutoit. In 2024, he performed Johann Sebastian Bach’s concertos for three and four pianos at the Teatro Argentino. In 2025, he is set to make his debut at the Palau de la Música Catalana with Martha Argerich in the Concerto for Two Pianos by Francis Poulenc.
A multifaceted artist, Alan Kwiek pursues a dynamic and coherent career, marked by stylistic openness, a strong pedagogical commitment, and a deep dedication to contemporary Argentine music and lesser-known repertoire.
